Step 1: The set-up meeting took place in December 2008.  This highlighted the fact that the Primary Care Trust (PCT) has already organised three workshops on PPGs this year (facilitated by the National Association for Patient Participation) and that the Local Medical Committee (the umbrella group for GPs) is extremely supportive.

Step 2: The PCT already has a sound understanding of the current position but chose to add to this by asking N.A.P.P. to survey their 103 practices.  This work is now complete.

Step 3: Local workshops will take place together with a county-wide networking event for existing PPGs.  It is hoped that this will lead to the production of a directory of local PPGs and will motivate their greater involvement in commissioning decisions.  A successful and well attended networking event took place in May 2009.

Step 4: Following the steering group meeting in early June, the action plan has been revised.

Step 5: The campaign publications have been shared.
