Step 1: The first two project meetings have identified four main priority areas with respect to developing Patient Participation Groups.  They are commissioning, communication, campaigning and capturing the patient experience.

Step 2: The mapping exercise generated 51 replies from the 94 practices that were contacted.  25 of these reported having a PPG.

Step 3: A workshop followed by dinner brought together some of the key players in the area to discuss how to maximise success in this project.  A workshop for practice managers is also envisaged, together with the annual event for PPGs themselves.

Step 4: The PCT, working closely with an effective steering group, is now formalising its action plan.

Step 5: The campaign resources have been widely circulated.
